The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of health psychology, psychological factors affecting health behaviors, and to develop knowledge and skills related to patient communication, behavior management, and treatment compliance in dental practice.
This course covers the basic concepts of health psychology, health and illness behaviors, the biopsychosocial model, stress and health, promotion of healthy behaviors, patient motivation, treatment adherence, communication skills, patient–dentist relationships, dental anxiety and fear, pain perception, behavior change models, psychological aspects of chronic diseases, and psychological approaches in dental practice.
