Objectives of the Course

The main aim of the course is to enable the undergraduate students to be competent in the semantic.

Course Content

The history of Semantic, its place in linguistics and the key concepts related to the science of meaning, meaning characteristics of Turkish language (at word level, at sentence level); meaning frame, meaning events; stagnant meaning science, word, concept, meaning, scope; synonymity; polysemy; meaningful science, meaning change, meaning expansion, narrowing of meaning; expression transfer, name transfer and similar words.

2.Have the knowledge of etymological origins of words.
3.Have information about the meaning properties of words.
