Objectives of the Course

To teach characteristics of language and speech disorders

Course Content

Basic concepts in speech and language disorders and general evaluation of development-communication language and speech disorders in children, differences between speech and language disorders, explanation of developmental language disorders.

Learning Outcomes
1.Students learn the fundamental differences between language disorders and speech disorders.
2.Students become aware of the concepts of “Receptive language-Expressive language-Delayed language-Overregularization-Incomplete regularization” covered in the speech and language disorders course and the changes that occur in language development in children during critical periods between the ages of 0 and 6.
3.Students learn what language disorders are and what speech disorders are.
4.Students learn about the speech and language disorders experienced by children with autism, intellectual disability, hearing impairment, and learning difficulties.
5.Students learn about developmental language disorders and theories of language learning.
6.Students learn about language, speech, and fluency disorders that can occur in bilingual and multilingual students.
