Objectives of the Course

To provide information on mental health, adaptation, and behavior problems commonly encountered in infancy, childhood, and adolescence and examined under developmental psychopathology, as well as the environmental and biological factors affecting them; to provide skills regarding the processes of recognizing behavioral symptoms of these problems, assessment, referring to appropriate units, and counseling families.

Course Content

Biological factors and epigenetic processes in developmental psychopathology; early deprivation, attachment, and psychopathology relationship; anxiety, mood, and elimination disorders (enuresis, encopresis); behavior problems, antisocial behaviors, peer and family influences; autism spectrum disorder; adolescent problems, eating and sleep disorders; protective factors against risk factors, psychological resilience, and processes of recognizing psychopathology.

1.Explains the basic concepts of developmental psychopathology and the environmental and biological factors that influence adjustment problems.
2.Analyzes the symptoms of mental health problems and behavioral disorders observed in infancy, childhood, and adolescence.
3.Evaluates the multifaceted effects of developmental risk factors on children’s psychosocial adjustment processes.
4.Interprets protective factors that support children in the face of mental health problems and the concept of psychological resilience.
5.Plans the processes of assessing children with adjustment problems, referring them to appropriate services, and providing guidance to families.
