The aim of this course is to enable graduate students to analyze the economic dynamics, market structures, and consumer behaviors that drive the tourism sector on a global and national scale at an advanced level. The course aims to examine critical issues such as econometric modeling of tourism demand, the macroeconomic impacts of the sector on the balance of payments and employment, financing of tourism investments, and sustainable tourism economics within a theoretical and empirical (applied) framework.

The course will first focus on the fundamental concepts of tourism economics, consumer preferences, and demand analysis. Following this, market structures, pricing strategies, and destination competitiveness within the tourism sector will be examined. The second half of the course will analyze the macroeconomic impacts of tourism, the relationship between international tourism movements and the balance of payments, public policies, tourism incentives, the digital tourism economy, and the economic dimensions of future tourism trends, using current articles and case studies.
