Animal Science is a department which basically covers issues on animal rearing and breeding. On this context, various rearing and management applications, production systems, producing new genotypes, food safety and biosafety procedures, animal welfare, quality management, herd management and health, genetics and biotechnological applications are carried out on different farm animals, pet animals and laboratory animals for both undergraduate and graduate students and research studies.
The department of Animal Science consists of two full professors, one associate professor, two assistant professor and one assistant as an academic stuff
History
Department has begun its educational activity at 2002 and 2005 for graduate and phD programs. Six students have graduated from graduate program while one student graduated from postgraduate program (phD). Now, two phD student is attending their programmes
Mission
To give education with international standards, to give research and comment ability on all issues about animal science to students who applied for The Department of Animal Science and to graduate contemporary, efficient and lifelong education adoptive veterinaries.
Vision
To be a program that is known with its educational quality and integration with both scientific and industrial areas among graduate programs in Turkey
Purpose
In addition to the issues given in its mission and vision section, to design scientific researches that will be useful for Turkish animal production, to involve as a active partner in studies that will be held on animal husbandry
Physical Infrastructure
Dealing with The Department of Animal Science in which the graduate program is going on; the infrastructure of the department is still improving as parallel to the faculty’s development plan. Poultry Research Unit and Horse Riding Unit can be used for research and educational purposes. Cattle and sheep research and rearing barns have been planned on the context of Faculty’s infrastructure plan.
