Objectives of the Course

The main objectives of the course is to prepare learning models based on realistic Turkish education format by reviewing literature about realistic Turkish education.

Course Content

Evaluation of new Turkish curriculum. The philosophy which the new Turkish curriculum underlies, the curriculum's vision, mission, different aspects from the traditional understanding. Literacy and the its importance at the information age. Qualities of literate at information age. Reading approaches. Readiness for reading and writing. Reading and comprehension. What is reading comprehension? How does comprehension realize? Types of reading comprehension. Reading and writing methods. The benefits of voice-based sentence method. Evaluation of studying on text. Intertextual reading. Types of questions used to evaluate reading comprehension. Simple comprehension questions. In-depth comprehension questions. Evaluation of literacy. Listening and speaking. Effective listening and speaking. Strategies for developing effective listening and speaking. Visual reading and visual presentation.
