Objectives of the Course

This course aims to analyze forced migration movements, settlement policies, refugee governance, and contemporary migration studies in Turkey from the Republican period to the present day. Students will gain advanced knowledge of migration management, integration policies, and current migration challenges.

Course Content

The course examines Republican-era settlement policies, the 1934 Settlement Law, internal displacement, migration from Bulgaria, Ahıska (Meskhetian) Turks, Iraqi and Syrian refugee movements, international protection regimes, integration policies, and contemporary migration research in Turkey.
