Objectives of the Course

This course aims to examine educational policies implemented in Turkey from the foundation of the Republic to the present day through historical, political, social, and economic perspectives. The course focuses on educational reforms, legislation, planning processes, curriculum changes, and transformation policies in education. Students are expected to critically evaluate the development of the Turkish education system.

Course Content

The course examines educational reforms from the early Republican era to contemporary Turkey, including the unification of education, secularization, Village Institutes, educational planning, teacher education policies, higher education reforms, compulsory schooling, and current educational developments. It also explores the impact of globalization, digitalization, and international educational indicators on Turkish educational policies.
