Objectives of the Course

Students learn concepts of genetics, genetic diseases, prevention, diagnosis and treatment and genetic counseling

Course Content

Basic concepts of genetics, cell division, chromosomal disorders, single gene disorders, pedigree analysis, the effect of genetic disorders and genetic counseling of consanguineous marriages, gender development and anomalies, prenatal genetic diagnosis and preimplanter, multifactorial diseases, blood groups genetics, midwives' responsibilities for genetic counseling stages

1.To be able to Identify the basic genetic concepts
2.To be able to Identify common genetic diseases, to be able explain and discuss these diseases prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods
3.to be able to comprehend the methods of treatment and care provided for individuals and families requiring Genetic counseling
4.to be able to gain responsibilities of midwives for Stages of genetic counseling
5.Identify patients and couples in the risk group for genetic diseases and provide appropriate counseling
