Faculty of Science and Letters, which is one of the five faculties during the foundation, was founded in 1992 by law no 3837 and consisted of five divisions in 1993. Our division began its activity in 2006-2007 academic year with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The programme aims to be able to grow physicists who can scan resources on any specific topic in Physics, plan and apply experimental studies in labs, evaluate experiment results and present scientific reports and work in research and development foundations. Among primary goals of the postgraduate programme, it is crucial to be able to provide the top level education to the most successful and talented graduates.
Terms of Exchange and Transition Programs
Interchange and transitions between physics and other programs are subject to the rules and regulations of Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Science and Letters Academic and Examination Directives. Transitions between programmes are prioritzed depending on interdisciplinary researches.
Students who complete all requirements of the Institute successfully are given "Master of Science in Physics " degree and diploma.
Specific Admission Requirements
Acceptance and registration of the students to the program are carried out according to the rules and regulation of Graduate Institute of Sciences.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning
The students who are applied to the program are expected to explain and use physical concepts and laws, to be able to carry out experiments and relate their results to physical laws and theories, to be able to understand universality of physical world, to be able to differentiate scientific and nonscientific approaches to physical world.
Profile of The Programme
Students who completed the program successfully are expected to use physical concepts and laws to solve physical problems, to be able to do experiments and present his/her work in scientific meetings, to be able to follow new technology developments and to be able propose new solutions to the problems he/she confronted for the firs time.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates from the program are employed in innovation and technological development laboratories of private firms, for teaching purposes in government /private schools. Apart from these graduate are also employed in banks and as marketing manager of scientific equipment used in various sectors including in medicine and engineering.
Access to Further Studies
Successfull graduates can continue their academic life for Ph.D in physics.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students take 1 midterm and 1 final exam for each course in one semester. The final score for a course are calculated by addition 40% of midterm and 60% of final exams. Final score should be 70 and above if students are to be accepted as successful for a course.
For graduation from the program students have to pass all the courses and present a seminar along with written and defended thesis in front of a jury.Total credit for all work should be no less then 120 ECTS.
