Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine the concepts of identity, diversity, and belonging, which are common widespread use and common effects, in sociological context.

Course Content

In this course, it is aimed to learn how identities are built or developed; and also the differences of identity, race, ethnicity, gender, religion; the power of identity, modern identity theories, debates about identities and differences in modern and post-modern societies.

1.Understanding the main concepts and discussions about identity and social differentiation
2.To be able to define and understand the basic debates and theories about the concepts of identity and social differentiation in the modern and postmodern era
3.To have an advanced level of knowledge in identity and social differentiation and to be able to relate it to current social theory
4.To be able to comprehend the changing nature and change dynamics of the phenomena and concepts studied from the modern era to the postmodern revolution
5.To improve the ability to demonstrate a critical and objective approach in analyzing concepts of identity and social differentiation
