Objectives of the Course

1. To examine, starting from the question of what it means to be young in the 21st century, the changes in identity, belonging, and values, together with the socio-cultural, economic, and political problems experienced by young people 2. To address youth as a historical and social category, and at the same time to understand the ways in which youth is explained and defined in contemporary sociological theories 3. To be able to analyze young people’s socio-economic, cultural, and political positions from a historical and social perspective. 4. The main aim is to address, in particular, the future anxieties, career plans, positions in the labor market, and expectations from university education of young people in higher education 5. Gençlerde bağımlılık sorunlar ve bu minvalde suç sapma ve şiddet davranışlarınını sosyolojik aktörler açısından değerlendirebilmek. 6. Z kuşağının arkadaşlık ve flört ilişkilerini geç modernite bağlamında tartışabilmek. 7. Gençlerin dijital platformları kullanma biçimleri, bu platformlarda kendilerini tanımlama ve sosyalleşme davranışlarını sosyo-kültürel dinamikler çerçevesinde değerlendirebilmek.

Course Content

The current problems, trends, habits, attitudes and behaviors of youth as a social category under 21st-century conditions; their identity and belonging definitions; values; family, friendship and romantic relationships; addictive behaviors; economic, cultural and political tendencies and problems; career choices and orientations; future expectations and anxieties; levels of hope and happiness; and tendencies toward living abroad.
