Objectives of the Course

In this course, students will learn analysis of feeds and fish meats, and quality control, evaluation and preparation of proper feeds.

Course Content

In this course, content of commercial feed used in aquaculture, proximate and basic analysis of fish feed and meat, analyses methods will be evaulated and discussed.

1.The students will be able to learn that feed analysis methods, their practice, evaluation, and interpretation.
2.The students will be able to learn compulsory analysis methods for feedstocks and feeds, affect of these feeds on fish growth, production of quality meat will be provide by students.
3.The students will be able to learn mixed feeds and their plant and animal protein ingredients, in other words learning feedstocks will be learned.
4.The students will be able to learn all parameters necessary for sustainable aquaculture and interpretation of related data

Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to the course, syllabus, purpose, methods that will be used.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Aquculture, mixed feeds that are used, information on the feedstocks used in feed.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Determination of methods for feed material analysis, introduction to protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin, mineral, moisture, dry material, their importance in practice and evaluation
Week 4 - Theoretical
Introduction to main nutrition groups such as amino acids, fatty acids, amines etc, their analysis methods, description and learning
Week 5 - Theoretical
Microbiological analyses in feed ingredients and feeds
Week 6 - Theoretical
Discussion on data collected by literature search
Week 7 - Theoretical
Evaluation and discussion
Week 8 - Theoretical
Common spesific analyses on fish feed and meat, and aim of analyses
Week 9 - Theoretical
Introduction to specific analysis methods, HPLC, GC etc, introduction to these analysis equipments, their operation, and interpretation of results

Methods and analysis for residue monitoring in feeds and feedstocks, their importance, evaluation and discussion of term projects
