Objectives of the Course

To learn the theories of language development in infancy and pre-school period and to learn about current researches.

Course Content

Basic characteristics of language, language development theories, language acquisition and teaching. Theories and development of language and language development, theories of language development, methods of evaluation of language development, formal and informal evaluation approaches, tools to evaluate language development.

1.Explains the relationship among communication, language, and speech, and describes the fundamental components of language.
2.Analyzes the language development process by comparing behaviorist, cognitive, interactionist, and socio-cultural theories of language acquisition.
3.Evaluates phonological, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic language development processes in children.
4.Assesses receptive and expressive language development and identifies delays and differences in language and speech development.
5.Analyzes biological, developmental, and emotional risk factors affecting language and speech development and interprets the effects of conditions such as autism, specific language impairment, and learning disabilities on language development.
