Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to analyze a production or quality control process from beginning to end, and to develop the ability to prepare process information cards, workflow diagrams, procedures and operational documents (forms, plans, instructions, checklists) related to that process. Within the scope of the course, students are taught through hands-on practice how to document a traditional process step by step, and how to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data collection tools for process improvement purposes on top of this documentation infrastructure (process digitalization documentation).

Course Content

The concept of process, process hierarchy and principles of process management; process architecture design and the creation of Process Information Cards (Input-Output, Resources, Performance Indicators/KPIs); drawing Process Flow Diagrams in accordance with international standards (ISO 9001, etc.); Quality Management System documentation rules and Procedure/Work Instruction writing techniques; designing process control plans, data collection forms and tracking checklists; digitally redesigning an existing process for artificial intelligence integration (As-Is / To-Be process analysis) and digital process documentation.

1.Ability to prepare a standard Process Information Card by defining the inputs, outputs, resources, and risks of a production or quality control process.
2.Ability to analyze process steps in a logical sequence and draw a Process Flowchart in accordance with standardization rules.
3.Ability to draft Process Procedures and Work Instructions in a corporate language, compliant with national and international quality standards.
4.Ability to design Control Plans, Forms, Checklists, and Matrices required for process traceability, data collection, and quality control.
5.Ability to analyze a traditional existing process and collaboratively prepare and present a new Digital Process Documentation Package that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics tools.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
The concept of process, process components and the importance of process management in production / Application: Mapping of main, auxiliary and management processes in a manufacturing enterprise.
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Process Definition and Architecture: Process Information Card (Turtle Diagram) logic / Application: Preparing a Process Information Card (Input, Output, KPI, Resources) for a quality control or manufacturing process.
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Process Flow Diagram (Flowchart) drawing rules and standard symbols used / Application: Drawing a flowchart of an incoming quality control process using drawing software (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.).
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
Functional (Cross-Functional/Swim Lane) Flow Diagrams and assignment of responsibilities / Application: Drawing a process flow diagram containing inter-departmental interactions (Production-Quality-Warehouse).
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Documentation hierarchy in Quality Management Systems and Procedure writing rules / Application: Drafting a "Non-Conforming Product Management Procedure in Production" in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
Preparation of Work Instructions and Job Descriptions / Application: Writing a "Device Usage and Calibration Instruction" for a digital measuring device or non-destructive testing equipment.
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
Process Control Plans architecture and preparation logic / Application: Preparing a Process Control Plan containing critical product/process parameters for a part manufacturing process.
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
Midterm documentation design application and submission of the term project draft document.
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
Data Collection Documents in Processes: Check-sheets and Tracking Lists / Application: Designing digital/physical forms and lists for collecting data from the production line and recording defect frequencies.
Week 10 - Theoretical & Practice
Analysis of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization Needs in Processes (As-Is / Current State Analysis) / Application: Identifying data collection gaps and AI-applicable bottlenecks in the existing documented process.
Week 11 - Theoretical & Practice
Redesign of the Digitalized Process (To-Be / Future State Analysis) / Application: Drawing a revised Flow Diagram of the new process integrated with artificial intelligence (e.g., camera-based automatic defect detection).
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
Writing the Data Flow Procedure of the AI-Supported New Process / Application: Writing a "Digital Process Management Procedure" on how prediction data from the AI model and accept/reject decisions will be processed.
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
Preparation of New Forms, Plans and Matrices for the Digital Process / Application: Designing the validation plan for the AI software, AI defect tracking list and data security forms.
Week 14 - Theoretical & Practice
Presentation of the "Final Process Documentation Package" consisting of all process information cards, flowcharts, procedures, forms and lists of a process.
