Objectives of the Course

Learning the collection of plants from the nature with the appropriate methods, drying and storage for certain purposes

Course Content

Definition of herbarium, processes of bringing plants and special groups (mushrooms, algae, etc.) into herbarium stages, Herbarium buildings and design.

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines the concept and functions of a herbarium, and explains its scientific and educational significance.
2.Collects plant specimens from nature using appropriate, ethical, and standardized methods.
3.Applies pressing and drying techniques to prepare plant specimens for long-term storage.
4.Mounts plant specimens on herbarium sheets in accordance with botanical standards.
5.Recognizes the design principles of herbarium buildings and understands how collections are organized and maintained.
6.Can make herbarium of special groups such as cyanobacteria, algae and fungi.
