The aim of this course is to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to healthcare personnel who will work in the dialysis treatment processes and home care services of patients with renal failure.
Course content includes kidney anatomy and physiology, acute and chronic renal failure, renal replacement therapy options, structure and characteristics of the hemodialysis unit, equipment used in hemodialysis, patient and machine preparation, hemodialysis complications and care, the concept of home hemodialysis, its advantages and patient education, equipment and patient preparation in peritoneal dialysis, peritoneal dialysis complications and care, and nutritional principles and fluid balance in dialysis patients.
| 1. | Explains the anatomy and physiology of the kidney, the pathophysiology and clinical findings of acute and chronic kidney failure, and renal replacement therapy methods. |
| 2. | Assesses patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, and plans and performs patient preparation, equipment use, and procedural steps in accordance with patient safety principles. |
| 3. | Evaluates complications that may occur during hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis using an analytical approach, plans and implements appropriate nursing interventions, and evaluates outcomes. |
| 4. | Plans and conducts education, counseling, and home care services to improve self-care skills of patients and their families receiving home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. |
| 5. | Provides dialysis and home care services in accordance with ethical principles, effective communication, multidisciplinary teamwork, quality standards, and professional responsibilities. |
