The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize cardiovascular system diseases, assess risk factors, and plan care, monitoring, and educational interventions for the individual within the scope of home-based patient care.
The course covers the basic anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and the general characteristics of common cardiovascular diseases. Care approaches for hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and peripheral vascular disease are addressed. Furthermore, by focusing on topics such as pharmacological treatment, home-based patient monitoring, early recognition of complications, lifestyle modifications, rehabilitation, and patient-family education, the course develops students' skills in providing holistic care within the home care process.
| 1. | Explains the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, diagnostic methods, and current treatment approaches of cardiovascular diseases based on scientific principles. |
| 2. | Assesses individuals with hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and peripheral vascular diseases by interpreting clinical findings, laboratory results, and diagnostic tests, prioritizes care needs, and develops evidence-based care plans. |
| 3. | Plans, implements, and evaluates medication management, home care, patient monitoring, lifestyle modification, and rehabilitation practices in cardiovascular diseases in accordance with patient safety, quality standards, and ethical principles. |
| 4. | Plans and implements educational programs for patients and families by considering risk factor control, prevention of complications, treatment adherence, environmental arrangements, support systems, and multidisciplinary teamwork. |
| 5. | Critically analyzes problems encountered in cardiovascular care, develops evidence-based solutions, and integrates effective communication, information technologies, ethical principles, and lifelong learning into professional practice. |
