Objectives of the Course

To introduce students to glass, porcelain, metal, and plastic materials used in laboratory environments; to teach the correct use of these materials; to explain the working principles of basic measurement instruments; and to develop laboratory cleanliness and safe working habits.

Course Content

This course covers the general introduction of laboratory materials, the structure and production of glassware, glass instruments (beaker, Erlenmeyer flask, burette, volumetric flask, graduated cylinder, etc.), porcelain, metal and plastic laboratory equipment, basic laboratory consumables, measuring devices (pH meter, balance, oven, centrifuge, refractometer, etc.), the working principles of analytical and physical measurement instruments, as well as laboratory cleaning, sterilization, and equipment maintenance methods.

3.Correctly uses basic laboratory consumables (pipettes, tubes, Petri dishes, etc.).
4.Explains the basic working principles of laboratory measuring instruments (pH meter, balance, centrifuge, etc.).
5.Applies laboratory cleaning, sterilization, and safe working procedures.

Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
Introduction to laboratory materials and the structure and production processes of glassware
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Glassware: beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks, graduated cylinders, test tubes, and basic measuring containers
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Glassware: burettes, volumetric flasks, pycnometers, and volume measurement instruments
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
Glassware: funnels, cooling systems, desiccators, vials, and auxiliary glass equipment
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Introduction to porcelain, metal, and plastic laboratory materials
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
Porcelain materials: crucibles, porcelain dishes, and heat-resistant containers
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
Metal and auxiliary equipment: spatula, forceps, Bunsen burner, tripod stand, and magnetic stir bar
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
Plastic and disposable materials: Falcon tubes, Eppendorf tubes, sterile containers, and pipette systems
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
Laboratory glass and plastic consumables: slides, coverslips, Petri dishes, Pasteur pipettes, and pipette fillers

Introduction to basic laboratory measuring instruments and their general operating principles

Physical measuring instruments: balance, pH meter, refractometer, viscometer
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
Heating and processing devices: oven, furnace, incubator, heating mantle, and hot plates
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
Chemical and analytical instruments: centrifuge, vortex, homogenizer, rotary evaporator, turbidimeter, polarimeter
