Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn safe working practices in laboratory environments, assess the risks associated with chemical substances, understand the fundamental principles of laboratory safety, and gain knowledge of basic analytical methods.

Course Content

This course covers laboratory safety rules, laboratory design and organization, chemical and hazard warning signs, the properties and risks of chemical substances, classification of hazardous chemicals, labeling and storage of chemicals, Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS), laboratory instructions and principles of instruction preparation, solution preparation and percentage solution calculations, laboratory accidents, poisoning incidents and first aid practices, as well as qualitative, quantitative, gravimetric, volumetric, and chromatographic analytical methods.
