The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of biotechnology, molecular biology, and cell culture techniques, as well as contemporary laboratory methods and molecular diagnostic applications used in biotechnological research. By the end of the course, students are expected to understand basic biotechnological analyses, apply laboratory techniques, evaluate experimental results, and follow current scientific developments in biotechnology.
Fundamental concepts and historical development of biotechnology; laboratory safety; cell culture techniques; DNA and RNA isolation; PCR and qPCR applications; molecular diagnostic methods; ELISA; SDS-PAGE; Western Blot; biochemical analyses; molecular marker systems (RAPD, AFLP, RFLP, SSR, SNP); gene editing technologies; biotechnological applications; and evaluation of current scientific literature.
| 1. | CLO1. Explain the fundamental concepts of biotechnology, its application areas, and laboratory safety principles. |
| 2. | CLO2. Explain the basic principles of DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, and molecular diagnostic methods and interpret their application areas. |
| 3. | CLO3. Explain the operating principles of cell culture, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, and biochemical analysis techniques. |
| 4. | CLO4. Evaluate the significance of molecular marker systems (RAPD, AFLP, RFLP, SSR, SNP) and gene-editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR) in biotechnological applications. |
| 5. | CLO5. Interpret results obtained from biotechnological analyses, follow current scientific literature, and critically evaluate scientific data. |
