To teach students the processes of correctly collecting, preparing, and performing basic analyses of soil and plant samples; and to develop their ability to interpret analysis results by introducing the physical and chemical properties of soil as well as the structure and components of plants.
This course covers introduction to soil analysis, soil sampling methods, soil profile and horizons, soil structure and texture, physical analyses (moisture, particle size, porosity), pH and electrical conductivity measurements, organic matter and essential nutrients (N, P, K, microelements), introduction to plant analysis, plant structure and parts, plant sampling and sample preparation, determination of water and dry matter in plants, basic plant chemical analyses, use of laboratory instruments, and evaluation of results.
| 1. | Explains the basic objectives of soil and plant analyses and laboratory processes. |
| 2. | Defines soil profile, horizons, and physical properties of soil (texture, particle size, porosity). |
| 3. | Explains the principles of analyzing soil pH, EC, organic matter, and essential nutrients (N, P, K). |
| 4. | Identifies plant structure and parts (root, stem, leaf) and applies plant sampling procedures. |
| 5. | Recognizes basic laboratory instruments used in soil and plant analyses and interprets analysis results at a basic level. |
