Objectives of the Course

This section will cover the identification of pests found on vegetables, fruit trees and in vineyards, the symptoms they cause, the damage they inflict, their life cycles and methods of control.

Course Content

Soft- and hard-fleshed fruits, nuts, subtropical fruits, and pests found in vineyards and vegetable crops (Rodentia, Gastropoda, Nematoda, Acarina, Insecta): their identification, prevalence in our country, biology, modes of damage, ecology, and the most appropriate control methods (Cultural, Biological, Chemical and Integrated Pest Management).

1.Recognises common plant pest species.
2.To learn about the symptoms caused by common plant pest species on plants.
3.To learn about the biology of common plant pest species.
4.To learn about methods of controlling common plant pest species.
5.It applies the principles of integrated pest management against various pest species and develops sustainable pest management programmes.
