Objectives of the Course

Objectives of this course are to teach theories of mental health and empower student to be able to deal with mental health problems in real life settings.

Course Content

Definition and history of mental health, theories of mental health, children with behavior and adaptation problems, enuresis, enkopresis, nail biting, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), school phobia, lying, eating disorders, family relationships and its effects on child mental health

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines the concepts of health, well-being, and mental health and relates them to the child’s mental development process.
2.Identifies common behavioral and developmental problems seen in childhood.
3.Explains the basic theories and psychological approaches related to child mental health.
4.Explains techniques for assessing and understanding behavioral problems using case examples.
5.Discusses preventive and supportive approaches to problems such as anxiety, fear, aggression, and addiction in childhood.
6.Evaluates the role of guidance services and the teacher in supporting mental health in preschool institutions.
