Course Content

Within the context of this course, some theories on the mind, the dualism of mind-body and some materialistic and reductionist theories against the cartesian dualism are discussed. First, some definitions of the mind are regarded within the context of the problem of substance. Second, the problem of other minds as an epistemological problem is analysed. And then, the problem of artificial intelligence and some theories on the possibility of AI; Alan Turing’s “Turing test” and Searl’s “Chinese room argument” as a counter argument.
