Objectives of the Course

To comprehend the importance of the Renaissance in the history of philosophy, particularly its position established between the Middle Ages and Modernity, and in terms of its role in forming the origins of modern science.

Course Content

In the first part of the course, concepts such as magic, humanism, and occultism, which form the philosophical foundation of the Renaissance, are discussed, along with movements like Neoplatonism, Hermeticism, and Aristotelianism. Later, the importance of the Renaissance in terms of Modernity is examined, particularly through the lens of Galileo, Copernicus, and Francis Bacon, and key Renaissance utopias as well as Luther's 95 Theses are read.
