Objectives of the Course

In this course, to analyze and evaluate Nietzsche's important concepts and arguments through a detailed study of his texts is intended.

Course Content

Nietzsche's texts in the context of the will to power, perspectivism and the tragic worldview.

1.	To be informed about the development of 19th century philosophy.
2.	To have insight into how philosophical texts are positioned in the history of thought and culture.
3.	To gain insight into the multidimensional and dynamic relationships between philosophers and their texts.
4.	To engage with Nietzsche's philosophy through a detailed study of his texts.
5.	To enhance the ability to understand, evaluate and discuss philosophical texts.

Week 3 - Theoretical

The relation of Nietzsche's thought to previous German philosophy.

Week 4 - Theoretical

Nietzsche's critique of truth and perspectival view of knowledge.

Week 5 - Theoretical

Nietzsche's ontology of will to power.

Week 6 - Theoretical

Nietzsche's view on vitality and life.

Week 7 - Theoretical

General Review

Week 8 - Theoretical

Nietzsche's views on resentment and traditional morality.

Week 9 - Theoretical

The intersection of biology, ontology, culture and history in Nietzsche: value and tradition.

Week 10 - Theoretical

The relationship between Socratic culture and decadence as seen by Nietzsche.

Week 11 - Theoretical

The relationship between modern nihilism, Christian morality and Socratic culture as seen by Nietzsche.

Week 12 - Theoretical

Different human types and the higher man in Nietzsche.

Week 13 - Theoretical

Overcoming nihilism: the superhuman, amor fati, eternal recurrence, value creation and tragic art.
