Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to determine the continuities and changes in Russian foreign policy from the foundation of the first Russian state. In this context, the process of development of Russian identity, culture and history from Kievan Rus to Russian Federation will be emphasized and the historical ground of contemporary Russian foreign policy will be revealed.

Course Content

The transformations in the economic, social and political structure of the state and the corresponding foreign policy developments will be analysed from the Kievan Rus to the Russian Federation.

1.Students examine the foreign policy orientations of the Russian Federation.
2.Analyzes the position of the Russian Federation in the international system.
3.Students evaluate the Turkish-Russian relations.
4.Students will have knowledge about general characteristics of Russian people and state building processes.
5.Students will have a general knowledge about the Tsarist and Soviet periods.
