Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is for students to acquire the skills to analyze social needs and issues at the global, national, and local levels; to develop sustainable and innovative project ideas to address these issues; and to apply the fundamental stages of project cycle management. The course aims to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical experience regarding the processes of project preparation, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, as well as to foster a sense of social responsibility and active citizenship. Furthermore, the course aims to strengthen students’ project development and management competencies to a level where they can collaborate with universities, local governments, public institutions, private sector organizations, civil society organizations, and other social stakeholders. By the end of the course, students are expected to have gained the fundamental knowledge, skills, and experience at a professional level in the fields of project development and project management—areas that are becoming increasingly important in the professional world—while also carrying out initiatives that contribute to society.

Course Content

This course covers the concepts of social contribution, social responsibility, active citizenship, sustainable development, and project cycle management. The theoretical section of the course will examine the fundamental principles of project development and management, problem and needs analysis, stakeholder analysis, goal and strategy development, the logical framework approach, activity planning, budgeting, risk management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes. In the practical section, students will design individual or group projects based on a social need or problem at the global, national, or local level; prepare project proposals; carry out the implementation process; and report on project results, sharing them using academic presentation techniques. In this way, students will have the opportunity to develop, both theoretically and practically, their skills in developing solutions to social problems, collaborating with public institutions, local governments, the private sector, and civil society organizations, as well as in project preparation and management, teamwork, communication, and reporting.
