Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to breeder chicken production systems, flock management, feeding programs, reproductive physiology, hatching egg production, hatching egg quality, fertility and hatchery performance, as well as biosecurity, animal welfare, and flock health management practices.

Course Content

This course covers the importance and production systems of breeder chicken production, breeder chick and pullet rearing, flock management during growth and development, feeding programs, reproductive physiology, flock health management and biosecurity, egg production and hatchery characteristics, breeder male management, hatching egg quality and storage conditions, hatchery performance parameters, production performance of layer and broiler breeder flocks, and health protection and biosecurity practices through both theoretical and practical instruction.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explain the production systems, housing systems, and production stages according to different age periods in breeder chicken production.
2.Plan and implement flock management practices during the growth, development, and reproductive periods of breeder flocks
3.Evaluate the effects of feeding programs, lighting management, and environmental factors on the productive and reproductive performance of breeder flocks
4.Analyze the relationships among hatching egg quality, fertility, and hatchery performance.
5.Plan and evaluate production performance, flock health programs, biosecurity protocols, and animal welfare practices in breeder chicken operations
