Objectives of the Course

The aim of the courses is investigation the nutritive and antinutrition effects on health and productivity of farm animals fed on diets with feedstuff contamined with mycotoxines

Course Content

Today, more than half of the feed ingredients and feeds are contaminated with mycotoxins, resulting significant health problems in farm animals. Since we have insufficient knowledge about their implications on animal nutrition, there is a need for a holistic approach to grasp the effects of the mycotoxin metabolites on the health, productivity and product quality of animals considering the whole chain from seed to feed and from feed to milk, meat and egg.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Prof. Mehmet BOZKURT
Learning Outcomes
1.To gain a general understanding of the formation, diagnosis, analytical determination methods, toxicological effects and risks of mycotoxins in relation to sustainable agriculture
2.To gain an understanding of the effects of mycotoxins on feed quality, as well as on productivity, performance and animal health
3.To gain a comprehensive understanding of agronomic practices that can help control mycotoxins right from the field.
4.To be aware of the concerns regarding human health arising from the transfer of mycotoxin residues into edible tissues, milk and eggs via feed.
5.To gain an understanding of the efficacy, variety and future development strategies of mycotoxin binders used in practice.
6.Adopting a holistic approach to risk management and regulations.
