Objectives of the Course

This course aims to introduce modern equipment and technologies used in poultry production and to provide knowledge about their operating principles, areas of application, and their effects on production performance, animal welfare, and farm efficiency. Students will gain the ability to identify, evaluate, and select appropriate equipment for different poultry production systems.

Course Content

Classification and characteristics of poultry housing equipment; feeding and watering systems; ventilation and environmental control equipment; heating and cooling systems; lighting equipment; litter management systems; egg collection and transportation systems; manure handling equipment; hatchery equipment; automation and sensor technologies; environmental monitoring systems; animal welfare-related equipment; and equipment used in alternative poultry production systems. In addition, equipment selection, maintenance and repair, biosecurity, and economic aspects of poultry farm equipment will be discussed.
