Objectives of the Course

The course aims to foster an understanding of relationships as both a search for truth and a practice of being, drawing on attachment theories, empathic awareness, ethical responsibility, and philosophical reflection. Rather than viewing human relations through the lens of utility or transactional benefit, this course emphasizes reciprocity, empathy, subjectivity, trust, care, emotional labor, and ethical engagement. In a world where relationships are increasingly superficial and instrumentalized, the course helps students develop the skills to understand the human condition and engage in meaningful human connection.

Course Content

This course moves human relations beyond mere customer–consumer interactions, inviting students to philosophically and existentially question what it means to be human through the lens of interpersonal relationships. It explores the psychological and existential foundations of relating at various levels—family, friendship, romantic bonds, digital interactions, social ties, and one’s relationship with the self.
