Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to analyze data in health, nutrition, and dietetics using descriptive and inferential statistical methods, select appropriate statistical tests, perform computer-assisted statistical applications, and interpret findings in an ethical, scientific, and reportable manner.

Course Content

The course covers basic statistical concepts, data types, descriptive statistics, table and graph construction, probability and probability distributions, sampling distributions, sampling methods, sample size, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, one- and two-sample tests, multiple group comparisons, selection of parametric and non-parametric tests, correlation and regression analysis, computer-assisted data analysis, and scientific reporting of results.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Assoc. Prof. Gürkan GÜNAYDIN
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains data types and basic statistical concepts in health, nutrition, and dietetics.
2.Summarizes and interprets health data using descriptive statistics, tables, and graphical methods.
3.Applies sampling methods, sample size, confidence interval, and hypothesis testing principles.
4.Selects and applies the appropriate statistical test according to the research question and data structure.
5.Performs correlation and regression analyses and interprets the results scientifically.
6.Produces analysis outputs using computer-assisted statistical applications and reports and presents them in accordance with ethical principles.
