Objectives of the Course

To learn about various acute and chronic diseases seen in childhood, to understand the importance of nutrition in childhood diseases, and to learn and research current dietary practices related to childhood diseases.

Course Content

Clinical case management, premature infant feeding, enteral and parenteral nutrition, acute gastroenteritis, malnutrition, lactose intolerance and other carbohydrate malabsorption disorders, infectious diseases, childhood obesity, metabolic syndrome, eating disorders, kidney diseases, oncological diseases, and nutritional therapies.

Learning Outcomes
1.Learns the importance of medical nutrition therapy in paediatric diseases.
2.Learns the clinical and laboratory findings, complications and medical treatments of acute and chronic diseases seen in infancy and childhood.
3.Discusses the methods of medical nutrition therapy of children with these diseases.
4.Learns to evaluate the nutritional status of children with these diseases.
5.Learns the energy and nutrient requirements of children with these diseases.
6.Examines special nutrition products used in the medical nutrition therapy of these diseases.
7.Learns the methods of monitoring the medical nutrition treatment of children with these diseases.
