Objectives of the Course

To provide fundamental knowledge on the basic characteristics, classification, reproduction, and infection mechanisms of microorganisms, sterilization and disinfection practices, and the basic principles of the immune system; and to develop the ability to explain fundamental approaches toward the prevention and control of infections.

Course Content

This course covers the basic concepts of microbiology, as well as the classification, structures, reproduction, and metabolism of microorganisms. Additionally, host-microorganism interactions, sterilization and disinfection methods, diagnosis of infectious diseases, hospital-acquired infections, prevention and control methods, the immune system, vaccines, and immunization are examined.
