The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to assess nutritional status, apply evidence-based medical nutrition therapy principles, and plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition care for adults with common diseases.
This course covers nutritional assessment and the principles of medical nutrition therapy for obesity, eating disorders, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, gastrointestinal diseases, cancer, and bone marrow/hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Current approaches to determining disease-specific energy and nutrient requirements and planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition care are also discussed.
