Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to introduce origins, species, habitat and behavior of Viperidae, a venomous family, which is distributed in the Old World (Asia, Europa and Africa). It is to provide information about poisons, poisoning cases and should be taken first aid measures.

Course Content

Origin and classification of vipers. Habitats, behavior and distribution fields of vipers. The methods of working with vipers. Defensive mechanisms, venoms and chemical and physical structure of venom. Venomous snakes in Turkey and first aid.

6.The student has the knowledge about precautions against snake bites and the first aid.
7.The student learns the effects of poison and its use in medicine.
