Objectives of the Course

The aim of this Course is that students become knowledge on basic concepts for plants and their biological activities and analytical opinion on plants and their biological activities topics

Course Content

Introduction to plants and their biological activities, Medicinally important families in plants, Allium (Garlic) compounds, molecular formulas and isomers, origin of bounds and characteristics of molecules, polarity.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to plants and their biological activities: scientific history of medicinal plants and their biological activities, basic concepts related with medicinal plants and their biological activities
Week 2 - Theoretical
Medicinally important families in plants
Week 3 - Theoretical
Primer metabolism compounds, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Amino acids and proteins, lectines, Fungal toxins, cyclotides and plants containing such compounds.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Seconder metabolites, indole ring system, isoquinolin ring system, pyridine, piperidine and pyrrolidone ring systems, pyrrolizidine ring system, quinolin ring system, quinolizidine ring system, tropane ring system
Week 5 - Theoretical
Allium (Garlic) compounds, Anthocyanidine and flavonoids, Coumarines, Basic Coumarines, Furanocoumarines, cyanogenetic glycosides, Glucosinolates

Glycosides, isoflavones, lignanes, phenolic compounds, poly alkynes, polyalkenes, quinones

Tannins, terpenes, heart strengthening glycosides
