ARTICLE 5 – (1) At the beginning of each academic year, an advisor is assigned to all students enrolled at the university by decision of the relevant unit's administrative board. For students enrolled in a Double Major/Minor program, a single advisor responsible for the entire program is assigned within the relevant unit. 

(2) Course registration procedures for students studying at the School of Foreign Languages are carried out by the advisor appointed by the decision of the unit administrative board to which the students are entitled to enroll. All advisory services other than course registration procedures for these students are carried out by advisors appointed by the administrative board of the School of Foreign Languages. 

(3) If the advisor's relationship with the University is terminated temporarily or permanently, a new advisor is appointed. Unless absolutely necessary, the student's advisor is not changed. 

(4) In departments/programs where there are not enough advisors, advisors are appointed from other departments/programs by the relevant Department Management Board. 

(5) Information about students and advisors is stored in OBİS. Advisors obtain the list of students for whom they are responsible via OBİS.

(6) The advisor's duties continue until the student's affiliation with the University is terminated.

Duties and responsibilities of the advisor 

ARTICLE 7 – (1) At the beginning of each academic year, the advisor shall hold an information meeting with the students under their supervision on topics such as the academic and administrative structure, academic calendar, relevant legislation, teaching program, weekly class schedule, student discipline regulations, credit and scholarship opportunities, and similar matters. 

(2) Assists students with new registration, course selection, and course registration processes in accordance with the academic calendar and ensures that these processes comply with relevant legislation. The advisory service for course registration is provided through the use of OBİS.

(3) Informs students about the conditions required for graduation from their registered program and the compulsory/elective courses in the curriculum. (4) Monitors students' academic status, informs them, and guides them to avoid semester/year loss.

(5) Checks whether students who need to retake a course/courses have registered for the relevant course/courses. 

(6) Guides students on academic matters such as transfer procedures, course equivalencies, and exemptions. 

(7) Follows current legislation and changes, and informs students about the processes they need to follow and their rights and responsibilities. 

(8) Addresses students' social and psychological issues and, when necessary, refers the student to the ADÜ Youth Unit for these issues and to the MEDİKO Unit for health-related issues.

(9) Helps students become informed about exchange programs and internship opportunities. 

(10) Provides guidance and direction to students on individual career planning. 

(11) The advisor sets aside and announces at least two class hours per week to facilitate easy communication with students. During this time, the advisor is available at the designated location for communication and meets face-to-face with students to discuss their academic issues. 

(12) The advisor checks that the student who has reached the graduation stage has completed all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum and is eligible for graduation, and that there are no academic obstacles to graduation, and approves the student's graduation via OBİS. 

(13) The advisor monitors the Student Identification Form (Appendix 1 of the Guidelines), which contains the student's academic and personal information, contact details, family status, financial situation, etc., by viewing it via OBIS.
